“The 1st Friendship Day was celebrated in 1958 in Paraguay as International Friendship Day. Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark Cards, started this in 1930. It was his idea to mark a day on which people would celebrate their friendships”.
Once upon a time, there were 3 childhood friends Alex, Edward, and John.
They met each other in school from that time they were together. They lived in the same locality. As they grew their friendship became stronger. After school, they used to meet each other and complete their homework and later play together. They spent more time with each other than their family.
Their school was done and they were planning to choose a college. Alex and John wanted to make a career in commerce and Edward in Science. They didn’t want to go to a different college so they chose one of the best colleges where they can be together. They were enjoying their college days.
One day John was very sad, Alex and Edward saw him and asked why he was so sad. John replied, “The college has given the notice to submit the college fees however my parents are unable to arrange the fees, in case if I don’t submit before the final exam they won’t allow me to give the exam and my one year will get wasted”. They all couldn’t understand what to do. Alex went home and spoke to his parents. Alex’s father was a businessman so he told his son not to worry and he would pay John’s college fees. Alex was very happy he went and told his friends. John and his parents were thankful to Alex’s father for helping them. Graduation was done and they had cleared their exam with good marks.
Alex joined his father’s business. Edward and John were giving interviews. Edward got a very good job however it was in a different city. Finally, John also got a job. All the 3 of them started a new life, after having a busy schedule they used to always do a video call at night. There was not a single day when they didn’t speak to each other.
5 years passed and Edward got promoted as a Manager. His responsibility increased and he became very busy in his career. Alex and John were in contact with each other. They used to meet every weekend and spend some time together.
One day Alex was going to the office and he met with an accident.
Few people took him to the hospital. His life was saved however his legs got paralyzed.
Doctors said they won’t be able to tell how long it will take for him to recover and walk like before.
After a few days, he got discharged and came home. Alex felt very helpless as he got dependent on his parents. He used to get bored sitting in a wheelchair. John used to come to meet him.
After some days he started coming once or twice a week. One week was done however John didn’t come to meet. Alex used to ask his mother if they received any call from John or if they met him. Whenever Alex used to call, John used to disconnect the call. Alex became very lonely. His health started getting affected. He used to spend his day sitting alone in his bedroom. One day Edward called his family to inform them that his office is starting a new branch in their city, so very soon he will be shifting back and will be staying with them. He asked his parents whether they met his friends. His family informed him about Alex’s condition. The next morning Edward took the flight and went to meet Alex. He was very happy to meet Edward. He asked him how this happened and why nobody informed me.
Edward took leave from his office and started spending time with Alex. He started staying happy. Day by Day his condition started improving. Whatever time Edward got he used to spend with Alex.
After a few months, he started walking with the help of the Crutch. Alex started going to the office and now he was totally fine and could walk without any support.
Moral of the Story: One family is given by God and another family is chosen by us and that’s Friends. We need to make sure before making friends who will be with us our whole lives and who will leave our hand in Pain.
Alex had two friends, one whom he helped but left him in problems, and another who left everything and came for him and took care of him. A true friend is not who leaves you but who holds you when you need them.moralofstory
